Siezures, or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Visualization
IF YOU HAVE EPILEPSY, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU -- DO NOT TRY THIS -- THOUGH IT IS MADE TO BE A FUN WAY TO RELAX, DO NOT DO IT!!!
Ok.
You need the following:- A vast selection of trance, techno, synthpop, or dance music.
- A pair of diffraction lenses, preferably not cheap ones. (These are sometimes mistaken for 3D-glasses, but they are not.)
- Some good Winamp Visualizations.
- A very, very dark room.
- A record for not having siezures.
I'm sure many of you guys have sat infront of the monitor with sweet visualizations staring at them. I'm not sure how many of you have ever sat there with diffraction lenses over your eyes watching these visualizations.
This picture, with diffraction lenses, will seem to jump out at you:
It's fantastic. Remember though, you need to be careful doing this. Seriously, you do. First, it's entrancing. I actually didn't realize it, but I once sat here for about an hour and a half staring and lost. If it weren't for an IM popping up, my brain might have fried. Ah, that's another thing. No interruptions. Your brain will get used to the pulsing of lights and the way the diffraction lens "diffract" light. If you have a sudden interruption, it might lead to a core dump.
You can really fry your brain like this. I'm living proof. But, for what it's worth, it's fun as hell.
This is another crazy thing not to do,
brought to you by the one and only

Zehly, you're priceless.
You've made my day with this post. I imagine you there with those funky glasses on slouched back in a chair staring ahead for over an hour. Yeah, I've done it too (just not with the diffraction lenses yet).
The iTunes visuals on my Mac are much nicer than the winamp ones.

Heh heh, there's those magic image books you get that you don't need any lenses for, just have to look at the pictures and focus slightly past the page or in front of it. We officially moved to Battlefield 2 just before faction was introduced since we didn't agree with grinding for skills. A couple of us stayed behind. We joined [joke] (a refugee guild) and later Starlight Extinction [sE]. One of us played with Final Dynasty for a while IIRC. We don't play GW much anymore. I stopped after Sorrows Furnace came out and Faction finally reached a reasonable and permanent level. So I'm ok with how the game is now compared to release.

You can easily simulate that effect if you just drag a cheese grater across your eyeballs.

You get them with some mags like 3d glasses for those 3d pictures. Zehly, these are usually linear polarised lenses, that's the ones you mean right? The lenses are at different polarisations (at 45 degree w.r.t each other) to get the effect.

**UPDATE**
I do not recommend partaking in this kind of activity under the influence of alchohol or other substances that can alter perception. It can be scary, but YMMV (your mileage my vary).

Not to flame or anything, but you're in no real position to comment about spelling or grammar when you type like a pre-teen Trillian user who thinks he/she is 22 on MySpace and is upset because mommy made you get offline at 9:00 so that you can be up early for school tomorrow and take your pet rabbit to school for show-and-tell. Once you get a sticker on your 150 word English research paper that you're going to do on the Magic School Bus, we can discuss the nature of grammar, syntax, semantics, and spelling. Until then, why don't you go practice your skateboard tricks over molten lava.
[example of (1) run-on sentence, (2) irritated zehly, (3) a sarcastic irony.]

While Conker's comment was thoughtless and stupid, he has a right to point that out. Just because your own grammar is superior to his does not mean he has "no right" to make a comment. Why don't you ignore him like a mature person would rather than retorting with some purposely inflammatory remarks?

Because she can.

So its cool if Zehly flames, but not other people... Anyway, I know my professors wont flame me if they put in plus sign where then wanted a minus sign and I point it out before they fill up a chalkboard with wrongness. Yeah, I said wrongness. "Because I can."

I have one, in a little cardboard slide. You can actually stick it in a slide projector for a nifty rainbow effect.
My Chem 101 instructor bought a ton of the things so everyone could take one home.
Speaking of which, i should find it, tape it to one eye and try this.
